The Cards You're Dealt...

In your life you can not control the cards you are dealt, but you can control how you play them. Life isn't fair and some people have a hard time accepting that, but once you do and choose to rise above life's difficulties you will be a happier person. Charles Swindoll said, "Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. I could not agree with this quote more. In life you always have choices and you have to choose to be happy if you want to live a better life. The way I look at it you have two options in every situation, to look at things in a positive light and to look at things negatively. Here are something I say to myself when I begin to think negative:

*In a year will this really matter?

*Is whats happening really that bad?

*I say to myself "this too shall pass"

*I think of tough things Ive gotten through in the past and realize I can do it again

*This may sound corny but I just try and smile it actually makes me feel better!

When things seem hard just remember it is the hard times that make us stronger and no matter what life goes on!

Blair Waldorf

As I said last night I am going to do some exercises from "The Happy Book" on my blog. The one I am doing tonight is going to be tough for me because I do not have the best self esteem. It talks about an episode of Gossip Girl where someone tells Blair she is perfect and her response is "True". So this part of the journal you are supposed to write three things you like about yourself. This is hard for me to do but...

1)I have a big heart- I love that I see the best in people and genuinely care about others. I love helping other people whenever I can and go out of my way to do so.

2) That I am laid back- Not much bothers me and I am very easy going.

3) That family means so much to me. I am so lucky to have such a loving relationship with my family, we are very close.

The Happy Book

I just bought this book "The Happy Book" its a cute little journal to celebrate what makes you happy. I am going to try to do some of the exercises on my blog. The first thing the book tells you to do is to write down a list of things that make you happy:

* Being around my family and friends
* Reading a good book
* Having a day off
* Eating good food
* My dog
* Spring days
* Funny Movies
* Inspirational Quotes

Welcome!

I am a 20-something single female just trying to live my life to the fullest! I decided to start a blog because I want to start writing more and I feel like a blog will motivate me to do so. For my first post I am going to answer a few questions from "50 Questions to Ask Yourself Today" from the blog "Cup of Love,Bite of Life Bite Sized Reality"

1. How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?

Well, even though I am in my twenties I feel so much younger. I mean I am very independent and mature but I still feel young! I think thats a good thing!

2. Which is worse, failing or never trying?

Definately never trying! When you do not try things you are always failing! You need to realize that in life there is always going to be failure, but that doesnt mean you shouldnt try!

3. If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don’t like and like so many things we don’t do?

I do not really relate to this question because I do not live like that. I do not do many things I do not like and I always go after things I do like.

4. When it’s all said and done, will you have said more than you’ve done?
No definately not. I am the type of person who gets things done!

5. What is the one thing you’d most like to change about the world?
That people would stop being so selfish. I wish people would care more about each other.

6. If happiness was the national currency, what kind of work would make you rich?
Helping others. That is all I want to do in my life, make others happy.

7. Are you doing what you believe in, or are you settling for what you are doing?
I am doing what I believe in.

8. If the average human life span was 40 years, how would you live your life differently?
I probably would not change too much. I honestly live my life to the fullest and I rarely have any regrets.

9. To what degree have you actually controlled the course your life has taken?
I have always controlled my life. From a young age I was given the freedom to do pretty much whatever I wanted. Although I do not think giving a child so much freedom and no direction is a good thing, it turned out okay for me!

10. Are you more worried about doing things right, or doing the right things?
Both, I try to always do the right thing and do them right.

11. You’re having lunch with three people you respect and admire. They all start criticizing a close friend of yours, not knowing she is your friend. The criticism is distasteful and unjustified. What do you do?
I would stick up for my friend and call them out for their inappropriate behavior.

12. If you could offer a newborn child only one piece of advice, what would it be?
I know it sounds corny but to always look at the brighter side of things. To go through life with a positive outlook. It makes life easier!

13. Would you break the law to save a loved one?
As long as I was not harming anyone, yes. I would do almost anything for someone I love.

14. Have you been the kind of friend you want as a friend? I always try to be. No one is perfect so yes I have definately done things that I shouldnt but I truely try my hardest to be the best possible friend.

15. Which is worse, when a good friend moves away, or losing touch with a good friend who lives right near you?
Losing touch with a good friend who lives right near you. If your really good friends distance will not harm the relationship.

16. What are you most grateful for?
The amazing relationships I have with my family and friends.

17. If you just won a million dollars, would you quit your job?
Maybe my current job but I would never stop working. I would first take care of my loved ones. I would then donate a large amount to charity. I would also start my own non-profit organization and that would be my new job!

18. What is the difference between being alive and truly living?
It is easy to be alive but it is more difficult to be truly living. To truly live means you have a purpose in life.
